Mission Statement
Dylan's
Footprint is a
grassroots effort to help Dylan and other families in Long Island who
are affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
Our inspiration for this foundation, Dylan Thompson, a 16 year old
Centerport, Long Island, native, is living with Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy. He was diagnosed at the age of 5 and is currently a 10th
grader at Harborfields High School. His school district has been
extremely supportive throughout his academic years and his family is
forever thankful.
Our immediate project and goal for Dylan is to
raise funds to build a handicap accessible and highly energy efficient
"Green home" for Dylan. Dylan's home will have wide
hallways to accommodate his wheelchair, and handicap-accessible bath.
The bedroom will be designed for comfort and with practical use of
space. In short, we're building a livable home that will also be
inexpensive to operate.
