Dylan's Footprint is a grassroots effort to help
Dylan and other families in Long Island who are

Mission:


Our immediate goal and project is to raise funds to build a handicap accessible and highly energy efficient "green home" for Dylan.  Dylan's home will have wide hallways to accommodate his wheelchair, and handicap-accessible bathroom. The bedroom will be designed for comfort and with practical use of the space. In short, we're building a livable home that will also be inexpensive to operate.

Our inspiration for this foundation,  Dylan ThompsonDylan Thompson, a 16 year old Centerport, Long Island, native, is living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).  Diagnosed at the age of 5 and is currently an 11th grader at Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, NY.  Harborfields School District has been extremely supportive throughout his academic years and his family is forever grateful.
2nd week in February every year

DMD Awareness Week in Long Island
AS PROCLAMATION STATES AND GIVEN TO DYLAN THOMPSON
BY LONG ISLAND LEGISLATURE.  It is Dylan and his family wish to continue to make DMD Awareness in Long Island.  Awareness opens eyes to DMD and bring funds to research in hopes of a cure.
Feb. 6-12, 2011
The week has been designated as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week in Long Island. (Feb 7-14, 2010) In the effort to support this cause , please wear the color "Lime Green" during the week. This color has been the designated color for DMD awareness.

Coach to Cure MD

When you and your friends were in middle school dreaming of playing college football or even just playing flag football in the school yard, boys with Duchenne were going permanently into their wheelchairs.

When your classmates are at the height of their football college career, boys with Duchenne are taking their last breath.

Duchenne is 100% fatal but you can help change that statistic...there is hope.

Elwood HS Student Council Presents Donation to "Dylan's Footprint"

After months of nonstop fundraising, which included the selling of "footprints" and volleyball-a-thon, the Elwood-John H. Glenn High School Student Council, headed up by Ms. Kris Kalinowski, finally gave collected funds to representatives of Harborfields
High School, where Dylan is a student. The tireless efforts of the Student Council to collect for Dylan's Footprint
resulted in the presentation of a check for over $5000. Pictured below are: Ms. Kris Kalinowski, Nick Scafura, Brian Lindo and Alex Boccard. In the group photo are J.G.H.S. Principal Mr. Vincent K. Mulieri, Harborfields H.S. Principal, Dr. David Bennardo and his
student representatives (named above), J.G.H.S. teachers Mr. Richard Rose and Ms. Graceanna Maiello. Many J.G.H.S. Student Council members were also on hand to share in this special event (missing from the group photo were Phil Leggio, Gwen Rosen and Allison Costa). Everyone at John Glenn High School is very proud to have been involved with contributing to this very special cause and to be able to help Dylan!
